We are a scout group in a small village called Middle Barton in Oxfordshire, OS164 Grid Ref(435 257).
The group is made up of a Beaver colony for 6-8 year olds, a Cub pack for 8-10½ year olds and a Scout troop for 10½ - 15 year old "spirited" lads.
We wear a yellow scarf with a blue border. The yellow represents the cornfields that surround the village during the summer months and the blue border represents the River Dorn that flows through the village. We also wear a group badge on our scarves which has three corn stalks on a blue triangle. The stalks represent the three villages of Steeple Barton, Middle Barton and Westcote Barton.
1st Bartons Scout Group belongs to Wychwood District, which includes the following scout groups;
1st Burford, 1st Charlbury, 6th Chipping Norton 1st Stonesfield, 1st Kingham Hill School
Now you might be thinking that because we live in deepest, darkest Oxfordshire, that we're a bunch of banjo playing hillbillies who don't do anything but chew cornstalks.
